A Book-in-the-Making Drawn from Narrative Supervision

A

Dear colleagues, friends, and fellow travellers,

I want to invite you into something slightly unusual (and a little bit messy).
I’m in the middle of writing a book.
Well… trying to.

It grows out of well over a decade of facilitating supervision conversations, workshops, and therapeutic conversations where narrative ideas are tested, stretched, questioned, and lived in practice. The book is shaped by what unfolds in these rooms with practitioners and with people consulting me, alongside decolonial feminist co-research, narrative ethics, and all the behind-the-scenes thinking that quietly influences therapeutic conversations but rarely gets spoken about out loud.

Right now, the book:

  • is not finished
  • is not polished
  • has parts that are still arguing with me

It is:

  • in pieces
  • covered in arrows and question marks
  • occasionally brilliant
  • and very much alive

And that is exactly the point.

I’ve started a newsletter where, from time to time, I’ll share articles, reflections from practice, and little “snapshots” from the book as it is being written — fragments, half-formed thoughts, passages that are still stretching, ideas that haven’t yet decided what they are.

Not the tidy version. The in-the-making version.
This is not a pre-launch list.
It’s more like leaving the studio door open while the paint is still wet and the desk is covered in paper.

In our field, writing usually appears once it has been cleaned up, formatted, peer-reviewed, and made to behave. The lively, uncertain, relational, ethical, and creative process that gave rise to it quietly disappears.

I thought it might be more interesting (and honest) to let you see that part instead.

This newsletter is an invitation to:

  • watch ideas take shape before they settle
  • glimpse how practice, ethics, and writing bump into each other
  • peek behind the scenes of where narrative ideas live in therapeutic conversations
  • join me in a slower, more transparent, slightly disobedient way of sharing knowledge

If you’re a practitioner curious about narrative ideas…
If you’re someone who has ever wondered where certain therapeutic practices come from…
If you’re interested in how writing about practice actually happens…
You are very welcome here.

I won’t write often – only when something from the process feels worth sharing.
The first piece is already finding its way to you – stay close!

With care (from a desk covered in drafts),
Kassandra
